It’s finally time for Airlock to fly the 10th Planet flag: Welcome to 10th Planet Airlock in Bastrop, TX.
We’ve spent the last 2 years building this unbelievable community in Bastrop, TX. And if you know us already, you know that our people are everything to us.
This is the story of our Bastrop jiu jitsu community.
From the very beginning, we knew we wanted to bring our members into an even bigger community. A global community of the greatest no gi jiu jitsu minds: 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu.
In March of 2025, Owner & Head Instructor Rei Villa received his 10th Planet Black Belt from Curtis Hembroff of 10th Planet Austin. Rei’s black belt paved the way for us to begin our official journey toward affiliation.
And now, it’s finally real and official! Airlock Jiu Jitsu has been adopted into the 10th Planet family, and we couldn’t be more proud.
If you’re unfamiliar with the 10th Planet legacy, let us catch you up.
10th Planet Jiu Jitsu is a system of no gi jiu jitsu and an affiliation of no gi jiu jitsu schools developed by Master Eddie Bravo and founded in Los Angeles in 2003. With over 200 affiliated schools worldwide, the 10th Planet community is a strong, collaborative network of no gi practitioners who have developed some of the most creative pathways to grappling control and submission ever.
So what does it mean for Airlock members?
None of the things you love about us will change. We’re still the same Airlock team, same coaches, same style and approach that we’ve always been. Which makes sense, since we had already been building Airlock to be a part of the 10P family since the day we opened.
What it means for our members is the ability to become part of this international network of practitioners and gyms (read: cross train for free at other affiliated 10th Planet schools). That network of cross training is how many of us have made some of our greatest jiu jitsu friends from all over the world. Plus, we can look forward to more visitors from other schools in the system!
A new moon rises in Bastrop, Texas today. And the 10th Planet family just got a little bigger.
