Striking Classes: Kickboxing and Muay Thai at Airlock Jiu Jitsu in Bastrop
It’s finally time! Airlock Jiu Jitsu is proud to announce our new striking program. That’s right, we’re bringing Kickboxing and Muay Thai to Airlock in Bastrop, along with our new Striking Coach Jon Nelson-Griffith.
Our striking classes will focus on the fundamental techniques of both kickboxing and Muay Thai for everyone from beginners to advanced martial artists. Prepare for your fitness, your endurance, and your skills to level up quickly, just like our community of jiu jitsu practitioners have come to expect from our Airlock Jiu Jitsu reputation.
Coach Jon Nelson Griffith began his martial arts journey as a child studying striking arts and earning his Blackbelt in American Karate. His passion for martial arts led him to MMA and soon after, he began the study of ground fighting techniques and submission grappling. Throughout his career he has competed in full contact Karate, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Folk style and Catch Wrestling, BJJ and Professional No-Gi as well as winning the Sparta Combat League amateur lightweight MMA title in 2018. He is currently a BJJ Brown belt under Tim Kennedy via Grace Humaita Cedar Park as well as holding a Brown Belt in Judo under Sensei Zachary Maes. Jon is passionate about all striking and grappling arts, Filipino Martial Arts, and historical Fencing and being able to pass the knowledge he has gained onto his students.
Here’s what you need to know for striking class:
FREE TRIAL CLASS FOR EVERYONE
Anyone and everyone is welcome to come try a free class to learn some basics and try out striking for yourself. Our instruction is beginner-friendly (because we were all new once!)
We have loaner gloves and shin guards for trialing class. You are encouraged to bring your own hand wraps (see gear list below), but we always have some available for purchase at the gym if you forget.
If you can, please give us a call to schedule your trial class so that our coaches can prepare. If you forget all this, don’t worry, we take care of new people here at Airlock.
